Why does belonging in STEM matter to you?

I grew up loving all things science, and have maintained my interest and affinity for STEM over the years. As a black woman who eventually pursued a STEM degree in college, I can personally attest to how belonging impacted my STEM journey and identity. It’s an indescribable feeling to learn and engage with a topic you love, and feel that this is where you are meant to be. STEM is a beautiful thing to experience and impacts us all, and as such, should be a place where everyone feels they belong, even if it doesn’t turn into a career or extended passion.
