A lot is hard in education these days. When asked what they want the public to know about teaching, 51% of educators said they want people to know that teaching is a hard job, Pew Research found in a just-released survey. Yet amidst all the doom and gloom, a lot goes right that most of us in the public never get to hear about it. I reached out to some of the best teachers in the country and asked them to share the positive trends they’re noticing about their students right now. Five themes emerged:
- Students are more self-driven and resourceful.
- Students are more resilient.
- Learning is more connected to the real world.
- Students are kinder and more socially conscious.
- Despite the challenges, teachers continue to find joy and hope.
